Kylling farm house on display at Romsdalsmuseet in Molde
My great-great-grandfather, Anders Andersen Kylling, born in 1807 at the Kylling farm in Romsdalen, fathered two families, both of which emigrated to southern Minnesota. My great-grandmother, Gullow Andersdatter Stavem, left in 1871 with her husband, Johan Eiløfsen Brøste, one daughter, two sons, and several brothers and sisters. They settled near Lake Hanska in Brown County. Shortly after the death of his first wife, in 1859, my great-great-grandfather married Lisbet Olsdatter Brøste. After his death, she and several children emigrated in 1883, settling first in Rapidan, near Mankato.

My great-uncle, Lars Andersen Brude, and his wife, Ingeborg Fredericksdatter Bjorneberg, both immigrants from Romsdalen who also settled near Lake Hanska. Lars was a brother of my great-grandmother, Gullow Andersdatter Stavem. The Brude sisters and one brother, pictured above, were among their 10 children.
